Open Concept Kitchen Design On The Toronto Danforth

Over the years we have renovated many kitchens in the Toronto area. This featured kitchen in Parkview Hills, is pretty much a representation of the typical layout seen in the older homes on the Danforth. Original footprints usually have a dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room at the back of the house, with a hallway leading to the space.

We almost always remove the diving wall and add a large peninsula and relocate the sink to this area with the dishwasher. Heating vents are relocated, along with the electrical, unless their are boiler pipes. The exterior walls are reframed and insulated with spray foam, and we relate fridges to an end wall. Stoves are placed such that there is space on either side for food preparation and cooking. Proper lighting is added and durable flooring.

The result, much more functional kitchens that are in tune with how we currently live today. Space to work, cook, entertain, and daily life routines made much better.
