Add A Curbless Shower & Freestanding Tub To Your Ensuite Bathroom
If you live in York Region, or Toronto, you’re ensuite bathroom probably has a built-in tub with a small corner shower, and a double, or single vanity. Pretty basic. And you would like to make it more functional, updated, and warm. You probably don’t make the best use of your tub, or don’t use it at all either. You also ask yourself, “Why did the builder make the shower so small?”
There are definitely ways to make your ensuite bathroom into a relaxing spa experience. In order to achieve this, we recommend removing all elements of the space and reviewing your electrical and plumbing for starters, as well as ensuring that your installation and flooring structure is sound. We then relocate your plumbing and electrical, and then add an extra layer of plywood to your floor, to ensure that your tiles are stable and will last for years to come.
During Construction
Any new electrical circuits are added and optional heated flooring is wired in, and LED slim profile potlights are installed, including in the shower for safety. We recommend installing LED mirrors too, which will help everyone as they get older. Waterproofing is the installed using a Schluter system, which is a 3′ x 5′ waterproof system in which the entire shower and bathroom floor are covered including up the walls behind the baseboards. So say goodbye to mould in the shower and worries about any minor amount of water coming outside. These systems are curbless so there’s a seamless look into the shower with added space. We also recommend an integrated soaker tub where your faucet is connected to the tub, and that is most secure along with a sliding glass enclosure. It is as well most economical to purchase a stock vanity with integrated top in the style of your choice. A handheld shower with rain head is useful, especially when you do not require a full shower. And be sure to have a temperature control system for safety and ease of use. Larger format tiles with a contrasting shower floor will also make cleaning easier.
