"Having lived through various renovations (kitchen, main floor bathroom, hallway and family room) using recommended contractors from family and friends through the years, the results and experiences were not always pleasant! We delayed a needed renovation to our ensuite bathroom as we did not have confidence in a contractor. We turned to Homestars and found Ashton Renovations ranked very highly and decided to interview the owner Mark Ashton. We were impressed with his professionalism, honesty, and communication skills. We hired Mark Ashton having complete confidence in his abilities of himself and his crew. We were not let down by him and his team!
It was an extensive undertaking and even included some unforeseen repairs to the original plumbing, insulation and vapour barrier. Work was also done to relocate a heating vent and repair floor joists in the shower. Our new bathroom now includes a stand alone tub, with a glass enclosed shower that has opened up the previously cramped space. The shower features a rainhead, shower arm, and thermostatic control with Caesarstone thresholds and shelving. The double wall hung vanity and cabinet also add to the modern simplicity of the design. The renovation turned out better then we ever had dreamed of even with the unexpected problems that were found in our existing bathroom. We highly recommend Ashton Renovations!"

"Mark and his team of professionals designed and executed flawlessly our vision for this project. His knowledge of condo renovations was extremely useful. The tiling team, the electrician and the plumbing team not to mention the construction team and the painter were terrific. Challenges were quickly dealt with: until the walls were removed we did not know how the cast iron Kohler shower pan would fit; the glass mosaic tiles we chose had to be installed face down against the wall, which was counter-intuitive. Through it all, Mark was the voice of reason for these worried homeowners. And the attention to detail never faltered. Mark is a pro and the results prove it. What the pictures do not show is the hidden work in the walls which was meticulously executed - first grade materials, great plumbing job including the wrapping of all the pipes in the wall to avoid sweating; the waterproof membrane in the shower stall. "I initially hired Ashton Renovations with high expectations based on many positive reviews from previous customers and they didn't disappoint. The attention to detail was excellent; they pointed out mistakes, or shortcuts that other contractors had made, and worked to make them right. They organized subcontractors well and ensured that all the work got done properly. Communication was excellent; they showed up on days when they said they'd show up and they were always on time. They used a combination of emails and phone calls to ensure that I was kept informed on all progress. The scope of the work included: design and drafting, a complete kitchen replacement, new bedrooms, new flooring, staircase refinishing, paint, doors and trim, a sun tunnel installation and pot lights throughout.

"Our house is 100 years old; the bathrooms had not been renovated in over 30 years. We had done some of the design work and material selection prior to finding a contractor. We were intent on finding an honest and meticulous contractor that was willing to work with the plans we had created. When Mark first came to visit the house, he spent several hours discussing the details of the plan and the details of his construction methods. Mark was able to instill a confidence in us that other contractors were incapable of doing. After we officially hired Mark, he helped us to make some improvements to the plans; he and his crew then proceeded to build two beautiful and highly functional bathrooms. We are exceedingly happy with the end results and we will not hesitate to hire Mark again for other projects.
If you are considering hiring Mark, this is what you should expect: Mark is always honest. Mark almost always answers his phone. He is always willing to talk. He is always both friendly and accommodating. Mark and his crew all have an in depth knowledge of Canadian building codes and construction techniques. Mark generally likes to build well above the minimum building codes; he takes pride in his work and he wants everything he builds to last a very long time. This is a brief summary of the renovation work that was done: New plywood installed to strengthen sub-floor; relocation of light fixtures and new electrical wiring; full height wall replaced with knee wall; new tile and glass shower enclosure which includes thermostatic shower valve, linear drain, rain head, LED lights, niche, and foot rest; sleek new BainUltra tub with heated air jets and heated back rest; heated flooring; porcelain tiles on floor and walls (the tile work is stunning!); horizontal bands of solid quartz added as an accent material in shower and bath areas (this was an idea Mark had suggested; we are very pleased with the result); solid stainless steel tile edging; new vanities with beautiful quartz countertops and under-mount sinks; new fiberglass window frames with quartz jambs; recessed medicine cabinet; new Toto toilets; and new closet doors."

"Our experience with Ashton Renovations was overall (very) positive and I would recommend them for general house renovations. What We Did: Entire basement reno + wall removal + whole house electrical + Other things that are top of mind when I think about our experience is that Mark Ashton has high integrity and cares very much about the work he completes. Mark and his crew are also very thoughtful and considerate about the work he completes and he and his staff take time and care to do their jobs thoroughly and properly. This was our first renovation and we have heard and seen numerous jobs that seemed to have been done quickly and in some cases carelessly. So this attention to detail and quality craftsmanship made our first experience a very positive one.
The core Ashton Renovations crew was also exceptionally tidy both during the demo and just in general when working here. Even though we were not living at the house through the renovation, they clearly took great care to leave the place clean and safe each day after working. This was very much appreciated as we were regularly visiting with our child and dog to spend time at the house as well as review the work done. The only exception would be the first set of sub-contracted electricians we used through them who left the house noticeably messier than the Ashton Crew. However, the second set we used on later work were very nice and helpful as we had lots of questions for them and they were working in tight quarters. I would also say the core team at the time we worked with them were very friendly and courteous which was important as we have a young daughter as well as a dog who were very comfortable with them working in the house. The only negative thing that occurred during our job was that it took longer to complete than we had anticipated and we felt the communication about the delay could and should have been better communicated. I had expressed this to Mark who acknowledged this and agreed to do a better job both with us and other customers in the future. All in all, the Mark and his crew did an excellent job on our house and we would definitely recommend them.."

This work involved removing the entire existing kitchen and rebuilding a new kitchen from the floor up. "Ashton Renovations transformed our newly purchased property into a comfortable and contemporary home for our growing family.
