Project Overview:

This Lacewood Crescent renovation transformed a classic Don Mills kitchen into a bright, open, and highly functional space. The original layout was closed off with limited storage and outdated finishes, so the dividing wall between the dining room and kitchen was removed to create a better flow and improve natural light. As part of a combined project that also included a bathroom renovation, careful coordination ensured a smooth and efficient construction timeline—especially important since clients Bob and Louise were away in Florida during much of the work.

An interesting design challenge involved the staircase ceiling, which slopes down beside the stove area. Instead of allowing this architectural quirk to disrupt the cabinetry line, we incorporated custom millwork to conceal the angle while still maximizing storage. New hardwood flooring ties the kitchen and dining areas together, and a thoughtful lighting layout creates brightness throughout the open concept. The final design features a simple and timeless two-tone palette, quartz countertops, a generous island with seating, and a functional appliance wall that significantly increases usable space.

The completed kitchen blends modern function with the modest footprint typical of Don Mills homes. Through detailed planning, weekly communication, and a strong design–build process, the project was delivered seamlessly, allowing the clients to return home to a beautifully renewed space that feels both comfortable and contemporary.
