Bathroom Upgrades That Will Make Your Toronto Renovation Stand Out

It’s great to get a new bathroom with updated fixtures and tiles, but adding a few upscale items can make that space more comfortable and useful. Here are a few to be considered that are quite popular.

  • Legrand Wall Plates, Switches & Plugs – This is a very simple and cost effective way to add a little bit of style to your bathroom. You can either keep your regular white Decora devices and add colour with Legrand’s Radiant Cover Plates which are featured in the bathroom above, or use their Adorne devices. Consider coloured switches and plugs, and even built-in night lights for your bathroom.

  • ICO Heated Towel Warmers ICO Bath is a Canadian company operating out of Regina, Saskatchewan. Their products are exceptionally made and beautiful. They offer a variety of styles and finishes and also have some wonderful accessories for your bathroom. When first researching pricing for heated towel bars you will notice extreme price differences. It’s important to keep in mind that the cheaper models ONLY contain an electrical wire flowing through units and are often not well made, and can be problematic. The more expensive models contain a FLUID that runs similarly to a radiator, a much better option. With these types one is able to enjoy a more evenly distributed heat. The units can also be fitted with a timer and may act as a supplementary heat source.

  • Built-In Niches – There are many ways to incorporate niches into your bathroom, and traditionally they have been done with tiles and some type of edging to protect edges. Ashton Renovations has perfected the niche. With years of experience seeing where they don’t perform and fail, we have discovered that the best way to build them is as follows: construct a Schluter waterproof Kerdi membrane for the inner rough-in box (both in standard and custom sizes), and then measure and build a solid surface quartz box to fit that inserts into the space. The advantage of a box is a waterproof clean surface with no grout lines and a sloped ledge where water flows off like the ledge of a window sill. Any colour, any size, anywhere!
